Cihan Radyo: UI Redesign for a Audio Platform
Cihan Radyo is a Turkish-language audio platform used by approximately 1.500 users daily that serves as a digital archive of mostly spiritual, religious and educational audio content. The app provides access to sermons, lectures, and Islamic teachings originally broadcast on Burç FM and Radyo Cihan.
My role focused on improving the existing UI to better daily use in this project. I simplified episode navigation, searching specific content, and improved overall usability while considering the audience expectations.
Problems
One of the biggest usability issues was search. Users had difficulty finding specific content within a large and growing audio archive, especially when they didn’t remember exact titles or names.
In addition, the main page was cluttered with all of the app’s functionality, including episode listening, series organization, continue listening, settings, sharing, and category browsing.
Solutions
I redesigned the search experience by designing a dedicated search page with fuzzy search, allowing users to find content even with partial keywords. To reduce cognitive load and improve clarity, search results were organized into clear categories: series, episodes, descriptions. This structure helps users quickly scan and locate relevant content based on how they remember it.
I created separate pages for each core function to simplify the main page and make navigation more intuitive.
